Sumi Borah did her school level education from the Little Flower High Secondary School in Dibrugarh. Sumi Borah has been dancing Bihu and Sattriya from the age of 3 years. She first learnt Sattriya Nritya (Dance) under the guidance of Guru Ruplekha Borbora Das in Chaulkhowa Music College, Dibrugarh. Then she wanted to pursue dancing as a profession so she took admission in Performing Arts at Dibrugarh University. She completed her graduation and masters degree in Sattriya dance from Dibrugarh University in 2018. She took a break from her studies in 2019-20. Then she will again pursue PhD and M.Phil in Performing Arts from 2021.
